Monday saw the last night of regular play before some intrepid members head off to the World Championships in Monte Carlo. We wish them all luck.
It was a busy night, with 26 people competing across two Swiss (Swisses?) and one Knockout competition, watched over by one of Japan's top players, Kazuki Yokota - pictured here with Jimmy (centre) and Shino (left) - who dropped in from Tokyo for a drink before also heading off to Monte Carlo.
Our weekly problem puzzle had the title "The (Dice) Gods Must Be Crazy", and thus it proved. Winners were down, losers were up, crazy doubles were rolled, and in the end Mihail and Mike each won their Swiss, while the lateness of the hour meant Darryl and Shino shook hands and shared honours in the final of the Knockout.
